V.C. Andrews Book Club, anyone? As a teenager, her books both fascinated and frightened me; Andrews' stories read like horrific fairytales, gritty with no happy endings. While today's YA fiction focuses largely on dystopian societies, Andrews explored taboo subjects of our own society (and quite possibly, of her own strange mind).
